2010 Wedding Trends

It use to be that wedding styles didn't change much from year-to-year.  It was expected that all of the bridesmaids would be wearing matching dresses and all of the groomsmen would be in tuxedos.  But the wedding fashion industry has changed greatly over the last two decades, and the 2010 wedding trends prove that.

WEDDING COLOR TRENDS
A change in the wedding color palette signals the start of a new season of wedding fashion.  While 2009 boasted soft colors, 2010 wedding color trends are about bold color choices.  Purple, and all of the shades within that color spectrum will be the hottest 2010 wedding color.  Bridal stores are pushing a monochromatic wedding color scheme with purple; for example, dressing brides maids in several coordinating shades of purple for a dramatic, but elegant look.

Other popular 2010 wedding colors include bold blue colors that aren't quite as deep as navy blue, but not as light as sky blue either.  Ruby, coral, and light gray colors are also popular for 2010 weddings.

BRIDESMAID DRESS TRENDS
Bridesmaid fashion designers have responded to the demand for more dress options within the same color pallet.  As a result, brides can choose the color, and the bridesmaid can choose a style of dress that best suits her body and style.

The mismatched bridesmaid dress trend isn't just limited to the same color and designer for 2010 either.  Brides are now just choosing a color as a whole and letting their bridesmaids choose any dress that fits the general color scheme.

Another 2010 bridesmaid dress trend is the use of more casual fabrics.  Satin still has a place in bridesmaid fashion, but cotton, silks and natural fabric blends will be making a popular debut on the wedding fashion scene.

Hemlines will be shorter for 2010 bridesmaids.  Instead of the long, floor-length gowns, brides are opting to dress their wedding party in shorter, more fun and non-traditional styles.

WEDDING DRESS TRENDS
While strapless dresses will always be popular style of wedding dress, 2010 brings about more options for covering-up.  Formal shrugs and bolero jackets are available from many wedding dress designers in 2010, along with options for adding straps for the reception.

Pick-up style wedding dresses have been making their way out of wedding fashion for the last few years, but 2010 signals an end to that wedding trend.  While some discount wedding lines may feature a dress or two with the pick-up style skirt, they won't dominate the wedding fashion scene like they did int he past.

Colors other than white will continue to play a part in 2010 wedding trends.  Some wedding dresses will feature small splashes of color, such as a contrasting sash.  Other popular wedding dress colors will be champagne, deep ivory and antique gold.

Corset-back wedding dresses will continue to be popular in 2010, as will tea-length wedding dresses.  These flattering options have been selling well enough that designers are expanding those options within their wedding fashion lines.

WEDDING VEIL TRENDS

The most obvious wedding veil trend for 2010 is the bird cage veil.  This trend, which first made an appearance around 2007, has some designers expanding their veil lines to meet the demand.  High-end veil designers like, Erica Koesler, offer many options for bird cage veils and headpieces.

WEDDING ACCESSORIES

Accessories are veering away from the fake and steering toward the fabulously real.  Tradition is also becoming a huge trend, we are seeing an influx of pearls with Swarovski crystals; statement pieces that will last the test of time.  It is especially gratifying to wear designs that you can not only wear on your special day but also on your 25th wedding anniversary and then pass it on to your own daughter (daughter-in-law) on her wedding day.  Versatility and lasting power, is the trend, while you are creating a beautiful dream day, your statement jewelry designs should last a lifetime, so that every time you adorn this piece you are taken back to that very special day.

WEDDING TRENDS FOR THE GROOM

While the wedding fashion for men doesn't change a lot from year-to-year, 2010 will bring about some changes for the groom.  Instead of renting a tuxedo for a day, more grooms are wearing a high-quality suit that they will own for a lifetime.  Popular suit colors for 2010 wedding are deep brown, beige, and tan.  Grey is also a popular color for grooms.

2010 wedding style is all about finding a personalized, custom fit that looks good, feels great, and does not take too many risks.
